Tandem Las Vegas - A con business run by scammer Kimberly Daoust
Thinking of hiring Tandem Las Vegas for your next project? Or working full time for the company? Please stay away from this con business and their principal, Kimberly Daoust (a.k.a. Kim Daoust). This website is dedicated to exposing their unlawful business practices where they screw over people they hire and refuse to compensate them, and then lie about the final paycheck being sent out. I’m using my first amendment right to bring this to light and not as a personal attack against anyone (The official fraud report to FTC, BBB, and other sites will be available here soon). In my 15-year career, this was the WORST and MOST difficult company I’ve ever had to deal with. I was originally hired on a three-month fulltime contract to create 3D visual renderings, but they fired me because I couldn’t meet their unreasonable demands which is completely unethical and illegal. These demands would fall under the heading of "unlawful/unfair employment practice."
Long story short, my employment contract began on August 8th, 2022. While working on a large project, we met the first deadline successfully. Everything seemed to be going fine as we planned and discussed the deadline ahead of time. But then it was all downhill from there. For the second deadline, I was told on September 8th that they needed five renderings done by Sept. 15th. This was the plan and it was set in stone. On Sept. 12th at 4:12pm, out of nowhere, I was told that they needed all five views done by the next morning (Sept. 13th), a completely last-minute surprise and unreasonable demand! Wanting to be a team player, I sent them all five views on Sept. 13th. I did what I could with very short notice but was met with anger from Tandem because I didn't include the rest of the furniture in the renderings. They also blamed me for not having it done ahead of schedule when the design had yet to be completed or fully provided. This was not a small project. It was a huge casino with sophisticated details. It’s impossible to render five views in one day.
On Sept. 15th, they got angry once again because the "Final" was not done correctly. This was all because the package I received the day before was missing details and was totally unclear. I had to send what I could understand or they would get nothing while I waited for the missing elements. Rendering is a time-consuming process. I need time to work on the details and afterwards I need even more time to process the views. There is no ONE simple click and everything is ready immediately. The higher the resolution, the more hours are needed to process them. This often takes several hours just to process one. This was all known by Tandem, but they insisted on making this unreasonable demand for an impossible timeline. They then used this as a basis for firing me. This was a con meant to scam three weeks of work out of me, refuse to compensate me and then lie about the final paycheck.
When they send me the termination notice, they stated in an e-mail dated September 22nd that the final check went out in the mail, but it never arrived and in fact it turns out it never even existed. This was a total lie and fabrication. The final check was for $3,750 to include 3 weeks of unpaid wages. Per the employment contract, Tandem Las Vegas should compensate me over $12,000 for breaking the contract early (this amount is based on an hourly rate calculated from the time I already spent working for the company). They have now left me without work lined up for the remainder of that time I had set aside.
When I requested the payment again on Oct 12, their final communication to me simply stated, “Please have your Attorney send me a letter and I will get with my Attorney.” So now they expect me to pay a ton of money for a lawyer to get paid what I’m owed for work completed. That’s three weeks of dedicated and specialized work which Tandem Las Vegas just refuses to pay. Instead of honoring their word and sending me my final check, they are forcing me to give up. They know I cannot afford to spend $1,500 just to have a lawyer send a letter. This is how nasty this company is. They are taking advantage of me with no regard for human decency. They think they can just bully me into submission and there’s nothing I can do about it. It’s not even about getting paid anymore. At this point, I don’t want anyone else to fall victim to a con perpetrated by this fraudulent company that’s willing to steal from their employees. If you have been fired unlawfully from this scammer or are a victim of not getting compensated for work, please report it here.
